Marie Antoinette Historical costume

Marie Antoinette was born Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna in Austria on the 2nd November 1755 to Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor and Maria Theresa, Austrian Empress.

She was an Archduchess of Austria and as with most royal daughters, Marie Antoinette was promised in marriage in order to build an alliance between her family and the family of her husband.

During 1770 Marie Antoinette at the age of fourteen married Louis-Auguste, heir apparent to the throne, the grandson of King Louis XV of France and in doing so also become heir apparent to the throne of France.

At the death of King Louis XV in May 1774, her husband ascended the throne of France as King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette took the title of Queen of France and of Navarre.

The French people welcomed Marie Antoinette being charmed by her beauty and personality which contrasted with the withdrawn nature of her husband.

After the death of her mother in 1780 Marie became more extravagant leading to a growing resentment in the French people who became suspicious of her influence on the king with her Austrian ties.

Marie Antoinette gave birth to her first child, a daughter in 1778, and then two sons one in 1781 and one in 1785 a second daughter was born in July 1786 but died less then 12 months later in June 1787.

After a scandal in 1786 were she was accused of having an affair in order to obtain a diamond necklace she became further discredited and then after the storming of the Bastille in July, 1789 which would become the flashpoint for the French Revolution she become vilified due to her opposition to reforms, her lavish lifestyle and her infamous remark “Let them eat cake”, “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche”.

At the height of the French Revolution her unpopularity helped lead to the overthrow of Louis XVI when on the 10th August, 1792 Parisian’s stormed the Tuileries palace and imprisoned the royal family, what followed then was the establishment of the First French Republic.

Louis XVI was executed in January 1793, nine months later Marie Antoinette after being charged and convicted of treason was beheaded by the guillotine on October 16 of that year.

Scream for Halloween, fancy dress costumes and masks

Released in the United States on December 20, 1996 by Dimension Films, Scream was a box office success grossing over $173,000,000 internationally and single handedly revitalizing the slasher film genre in the late 1990’s. Following on from the films success the first of two sequels was released during 1997 and the conclusion to the trilogy in 2000.

Filmed mostly in Santa Rosa, California and directed by Wes Craven from a screenplay by Kevin Williamson the film tells the story of the quiet, peaceful fictional town Woodsboro being terrorized by a black robed masked psychopathic serial killer who torments his victims with phone calls and horror film references.

The mysterious killer who wears a ghost face mask stalks his main victim Sidney Prescott played by Neve Campbell, a teenage girl whose mother Maureen was brutally murdered a year earlier. The film plays out as a “whodunit” mystery with many of the town’s folk and her friends being suspects and victims alike.

Scream has won several movie awards including, Saturn Awards for “Best Actress”, “Best Writer” and “Best Horror Film” as well as the “Best Movie” at the MTV Movie Awards 1997.

The Scream series originally was intended to be a trilogy but after ten years since Scream 3 was released, filming began during June 2010 for the next installment which is intended to be the first of a new trilogy. With Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson joining forces again cast members David Arquette, Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox are the returning members from the previous Scream trilogy of films.

Mens Werewolf Halloween Fancy Dress Costume

The Wolf Man released in 1941 by Universal Studios introduced one of the screen’s most infamous and memorable werewolf creations.

Lon Chaney Jr. plays Larry Talbot a man who returns to his father’s castle in Wales where he meets the beautiful Jenny Williams (Evelyn Ankers). One fateful night she is attacked by gypsy who has turned into a werewolf. Larry kills the werewolf but during the ensuing fight is bitten.
